A 90-year-old woman died today in an attempt to save her pet dog from her flaming home in the 1100 block of East 20th Street.
Five other adults and five children escaped unhurt from the 2:15 a.m. blaze. A Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said the woman, whose name was withheld, also had escaped but went back to get her dog and was found dead on the second floor of the house. The dog was not found.
