The World : Saudis Jail Iran Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia has arrested a group of Iranian pilgrims, apparently on suspicion of illegal demonstrations. The Saudis’ King Fahd said he will not permit meddling by foreigners during the annual Muslim pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca. The Saudis released no details on the arrests, but Tehran radio said 113 Iranian pilgrims were arrested on arrival in Jidda, the Saudi capital. Saudi Arabia has warned pilgrims not to mix politics and religion, and Saudi media have accused Iranians of illegally demonstrating at Mecca and Medina.
