The Common Market dropped tariffs on U.S. citrus.

All 12 member-states of the European Communities approved a settlement removing the retaliatory tariffs--imposed last November against U.S. lemons, oranges and grapefruits, as well as walnuts--signaling an end to a 16-year dispute over access to European markets for U.S. citrus fruits. The tariffs were imposed after Washington took similar action against European pasta exports. The United States has removed those tariffs, along with levies on oranges, cheese, olives and olive oil.
