Local News in Brief : Bicyclist Falls Beneath Truck Wheels, Is Killed

A woman riding a 10-speed bicycle along Ventura Boulevard in Encino died Tuesday evening when she fell beneath the wheels of a passing semi-tractor trailer, Los Angeles police said.
The woman, Marisa Peniche, 26, of Sun Valley, was riding west near Hayvenhurst Avenue when she reportedly brushed the side of the truck, which was traveling in the same direction at about 25 m.p.h., Sgt. Dennis Zine said.
Peniche fell from the bicycle and died of head injuries, he said.
No charges were filed against the driver of the truck, Zine said.
