Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres said that snags in resolving a dispute over Taba, a beach area on the Sinai Peninsula, are holding up plans for a summit with President Hosni Mubarak that had been tentatively scheduled for next week. In remarks to Israel’s Foreign Press Assn., Peres said: “As it may happen in negotiations, there are always difficulties at the last moment. For the time being, neither a time or a place has been designated. It’s still hanging in the air.” In Alexandria, Egypt, Israeli negotiators met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Esmat Abdel Meguid in an effort to settle the nettlesome points.
