AirCal said revenue passenger miles during August increased 32% to a record 228.3 million, contrasted with 172.5 million a year earlier. A revenue passenger mile is the equivalent of one paying passenger traveling one mile. Load factor, or the ratio of seats filled to the total available, fell to 57.8% from 58.5% a year earlier.
For the first eight months of 1986, the Newport Beach-based regional carrier reported revenue passenger miles of 1.4 billion, an increase of 15.9% from 1.2 billion revenue passenger miles last year. Load factor during 1986 fell to 54.7% from 58.3%.
