A man arguing with his wife as they walked along a Pacoima sidewalk was seriously injured early Tuesday when he stepped into the street and was run down by a hit-and-run driver, Los Angeles police said.
The man, Jaime Alcaraz, 24, of Pacoima, was walking with his 19-year-old wife along Laurel Canyon Boulevard south of Filmore Street about 1 a.m. when he suddenly walked into the road and was struck by a white sedan that did not stop, police said.
Alcaraz was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, where a hospital spokeswoman said he was in critical condition.
