Nuclear Test Expected to Sway Buildings

PAHUTE MESA, Nev. — The 10th nuclear test bomb this year is scheduled to be detonated at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the bottom of a 2,000-foot vertical shaft at the Nevada Test Site, the Department of Energy said Sunday.

The explosion is expected to have a yield of up to 150 kilotons, a maximum equivalent of 150,000 tons of TNT, a DOE spokesman said, and the agency warned managers of high-rise buildings in Las Vegas, 100 miles away, that they could expect some swaying.
