Proposition 65: Toxic Wastes
I am appalled at the cavalier attitude expressed by your editorial recommending no on the toxics initiative.
Ironically, the same issue of your paper reports the National Cancer Institute’s statement that aggressive use of existing knowledge could cut the annual cancer death rate by half by the year 2000. They have finally awakened to the fact that prevention is better than cure, particularly when the cure for most cancers is non-existent.
I was shocked out of my complacency by losing my only son to cancer while he was still a teen-ager. Must everyone experience such a loss before something is done about the excessive pollution of our environment?
