Aug. 12: Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Bruce Stanley gives anti-drug message to church group with Deanna in attendance. Aug. 13: Deanna, 13, turns in her parents and $2,800 in cocaine. Aug. 13: Judith and Bobby Dale Young are arrested and booked into Orange County Jail. Aug. 14: Deputy Dist. Atty. James Mulgrew files charges against the couple for possession of cocaine, which would make them eligible for a drug diversion program. Aug. 15: Deanna and her parents meet happily for 15 minutes in Orange County Juvenile Court. Aug. 15: Hollywood producers chase Young’s parents for film and television rights to their story. Aug. 21: Deanna’s parents are still not able to return to work though released from jail on their own recognizance. Aug. 22: Deanna ordered released in the custody of her parents. Sept. 8: Bobby Dale Young and Judith Young are cleared of allegations that they were unfit parents. Sept. 9: Los Angeles area girl turns her parents in to police over marijuana use, citing Deanna Young as an example. Sept. 12: Bobby Dale Young in an interview said he was proud of his daughter, Deanna. Sept. 23: Bobby and Judith Young asked permission to be placed in a drug diversion program at their arraignment and entered pleas of not guilty to charges of possessing cocaine.
