Sears, Roebuck & Co., Chicago, named Michael Bozic, 45, chairman and chief executive of its merchandise group.
He had been president and chief administrative officer of the group since March.
Bozic succeeds William I. Bass, 61, a 36-year Sears employee who is retiring at the end of the year. He had held the merchandise group chairmanship since 1984.
