Frog, the nation’s first and only pit bull police dog, is dead. For eight years, the Staffordshire Terrier, acquired by the Los Angeles Police Department when he was only 18 months old, was assigned to the police detail at Los Angeles International Airport and during his eight-year career sniffed out thousands of pounds of illegal drugs which passed through the terminals there. In October the dog was diagnosed as having cancer of the liver.
