Sonoma St. 47, UC Santa Barbara 29--Quarterbacks Randy Lingle and John Mefford combined for 286 yards and 4 touchdowns on 18 of 26 passing to lead the Cossacks to a nonconference win at Santa Barbara.
Santa Barbara quarterback Paul Wright finished with 30 completions in 54 attempts for 254 yards and 1 touchdown.
Sonoma State, which has one game left, is 4-5, while UC Santa Barbara finishes 4-5 in its first year of intercollegiate football since 1971.
Southern Utah 43, Cal Poly SLO 33--Quarterback Chad Richard ran for more than 100 yards and threw 2 touchdown passes to lead the Thunderbirds to a Western Football Conference win over the Mustangs at San Luis Obispo.
Despite being sacked 6 times, Richard managed to rush for 114 yards in 22 carries. He also completed 9 of 19 passes for 140 yards, including touchdown passes of 7 and 15 yards to Scott Mosher.
Running back Kyle Wilson rushed for 118 yards in 25 carries and 1 touchdown. Southern Utah finished with 457 total yards, including 317 rushing yards.
Robert Perez led Cal Poly, completing 21 of 34 passes for 309 yards and 3 touchdowns. After Southern Utah scored 18 points in the third quarter to take a 35-13 lead, Perez rallied the Mustangs to within eight points at 35-27, but they could get no closer.
Southern Utah finishes the season 8-3 overall, 3-3 in the WFC. Cal Poly, which has one game left, is 4-5 overall, 2-3 in the WFC.
