WASHINGTON — The president of the Legal Services Corp. has resigned from his $68,700-a-year post one month after a supermarket security man accused a man identified as James H. Wentzel of shoplifting $5.66 in groceries, the corporation announced today.
The corporation said Wentzel’s resignation will “allow him to more effectively resolve pending personal legal matters.” Wentzel has denied that he was the man apprehended in the Nov. 12 incident in Washington’s Virginia suburbs. No charges were filed.
