As part of its previously announced acquisition of 55% of the San Francisco company, Tele-Communications Inc. said two of its officers have been elected to the board of United Artist Communications, succeeding Marshall Naify and Robert A. Naify, who resigned as the co-chief executives on Dec. 24 after selling their controlling shares. Tele-Communications said it wants to decrease the number of directors to eight from nine, and expects other resignations by early January. TCI said that when new appointments are made, its exclusive pact with Tri-Star Pictures will expire, which allows Tri-Star the right to purchase UA Communications’ movie-theater division.
