A young man from Riverside County was arraigned Monday in Orange County Superior Court on felony charges of assault and battery in connection with the Labor Day weekend riot in Huntington Beach that left 40 injured, 30 arrested.

Sean Clark Boles, 18, of Coachella was the only suspect arrested on felony charges stemming from the Aug. 31 riot, which erupted at the end of the annual Op Pro Surfing Championships.

Boles pleaded not guilty Monday to one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, one misdemeanor count of battery on a police officer and one misdemeanor count of inciting a crowd to riot, a Superior Court clerk said. Trial was set for Feb. 23.
