THE ‘PLATOON’ WAR
I recently went to see “Platoon.” It was a sold-out house of adults.
Really, to watch a serious piece of film making, I was surprised to find many in the audience acting as though they were watching a you-know-who movie.
They laughed at every mention of male anatomy and whenever any less than moral and war-crazed soldier showed an enthusiasm for murder.
The low point came when a person behind me said “Yeah, Rambo,” as someone on screen was being brutally beaten.
When did war become something not to be taken seriously?
