WASHINGTON — Bad weather forced President Reagan to use a four-wheel-drive van for his return to Washington after a three-day weekend at Camp David.
Usually, the President and his wife, Nancy, travel by helicopter to and from the retreat in the Catoctin Mountains of western Maryland.
But on Monday, due to fog and rain, the Reagans made the 90-minute road trip in a motorcade with a police car, several sedans, four-wheel-drive vans and Secret Service vehicles.
