Lyman Pitches Perfect Game
Joyce Lyman pitched a perfect game--her second no-hitter of the season--to lead Rancho Santiago to a 10-0 Orange Empire Conference victory at home. The game was called with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning because of the 10-run rule.
Lyman struck out four and allowed only one ball to be hit out of the infield to tie a school record for no-hitters in a season.
The Gauchos’ shortstop, Christi Kalehuawehe, hit a bases-loaded single in the second inning that cleared the bases and gave Rancho Santiago a 5-0 lead.
Designated hitter Nancy Morelock went 2 for 3 and knocked in a run.
