Caltrans workers found the body of a man Friday morning in the bushes next to a freeway on-ramp, Police Lt. Bud Lathrop said.
The man appeared to be a transient who had been dead about a week. His body was fully clothed and draped with a large plastic bag, Lathrop said.
Caltrans workers discovered the body at about 10:50 a.m. Friday at the westbound on-ramp of the Riverside Freeway at Euclid Street.
The dead man did not appear to have been the victim of any crime, but an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death, Lathrop said. He speculated that the man may have used the bag to keep warm but may have suffocated in it.
