Two Bakersfield men dove into a lake and rescued a woman whose car was sinking. Bill Rees cut his hand breaking the driver’s window so he and Jim Nord, 34, could open the car door, Bakersfield police said. Rees and Nord pulled Robin Ventress, 25, out and got her to shore just as the car sank in Truxtun Lake. Ventress was described as disoriented and in shock from the accident but was listed in good condition at Mercy Hospital. Rees and Nord were driving west in separate cars when they saw her car veer off Truxtun Avenue Extension into the lake, authorities said.
