As a first step toward relieving overcrowding in the small Mission Street business district, the city is distributing 1,000 questionnaires to owners of vehicles who park in the area on Saturdays. City Manager Brice Stephenson said the City Council will discuss responses to the questionnaires at its meeting May 13, along with recommendations from an ad hoc committee appointed to study the area. Residents complained to the council that increased traffic and parking in the area between El Molino and Euclid avenues endangers schoolchildren and lowers property values.
