The Conroy’s Group of Companies, Culver City-based operators of 75 franchise florist shops, has formed a joint venture with Public Storage Inc. and Melridge Inc. to develop five new Conroy’s stores a month beginning next year.
The new venture provides that an affiliate of Public Storage Inc. will, through syndications, provide stores to be occupied by Conroy’s franchisees. The largest volume flower franchiser in the nation, Conroy’s has six company-operated stores in California, Texas and New Mexico.
Melridge Inc., a publicly held flower grower and wholesaler based in Aurora, Ore., owns a 50% interest in Conroy’s, according to Stanley H. Schwartz, chairman of Amalgamated Consolidated Enterprises Inc., the holding company of Conroy’s florists.
