Ask Charles Kuralt about the interesting people...

Ask Charles Kuralt about the interesting people and places he’s encountered after two decades of roaming the back roads of America in a motor home and he’ll tell you that his “On the Road” stories are “not about anyone you’d expect to see on network television.”
Fortunately, however, millions of viewers have had the opportunity to see them, and a handful of those pieces will be shown again this week as part of a CBS News special titled “Twenty Years on the Road With Charles Kuralt.” The hourlong program airs from 8 to 9 p.m. Wednesday on Channels 2 and 8.
Among the reports featured on Wednesday’s broadcast will be the profile of a North Carolina man who never owned a bicycle as a child yet now keeps a garage full of them for the neighborhood children to borrow, and a Nebraska woman who fed free meals to thousands of GIs as they passed though town on their way to fight in World War II.
