Pico Rivera : Budget Down $8.9 Million

The Pico Rivera City Council has adopted a $24.6-million budget for fiscal 1987-88, an $8.9-million cut from last year because of fewer capital improvement projects, Assistant City Manager David Caretto said.
The city has spent about $22 million for capital improvements since the 1982-83 fiscal year, and many of those will be completed this year, Caretto said. The projects include work on streets, storm drains, water systems and public buildings.
The budget includes $19.7 million for city expenses and $4.9 million for the redevelopment agency. Last year, the agency’s budget was $11.3 million.
Seven new employees will be added to the city payroll and two existing positions will be eliminated, for a net gain of five workers, Caretto said. Revenues are expected to increase 4% in the next year.
