A 23-year-old Westminster man was shot and killed early Friday morning following an argument among people gathered on a Santa Ana street. Police, who later arrested a suspect, said they believe that the incident may have been gang-related.
Salvador Robert Ruiz, 22, of Santa Ana was arrested shortly before noon Friday on suspicion of murder and booked into County Jail for the shooting death of Cesar Chavez, police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas said.
A second shooting victim, Richard Villareal, 20, of Westminster, was in intensive care at a Santa Ana hospital, she said.
Thomas said police had established no motive for the 12:37 a.m. shooting, which took place at 1600 W. Highland St.
