Heike Dreschler of East Germany won the women’s long jump at 24 feet 1 inch, the best mark in the world this year, in a meet against the Soviet Union at Karl Marx Stadt, East Germany.
Also establishing a world’s best for 1987 was Sabine Busch of East Germany, winner of the women’s 400-meter hurdles in 53.80 seconds.
