A motorist was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run driving shortly after a 53-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed on Ball Road, authorities said Sunday.
Police said Anaheim resident Jose Renteria was trying to walk across Ball Road west of Brookhurst Street at 11:35 p.m. Saturday when he was hit by a car.
The first car didn’t stop, and Renteria was then hit by a second car, which did stop. The driver of the second car notified police; Renteria was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses gave police a description of the hit-and-run vehicle, and officers arrested Ianel Marius Cerean, sometime later. Police said the 26-year-old Anaheim man was booked into the city jail and bail was set at $10,000.
Officers are asking anyone with additional information to call them at (714) 999-1861.
