Equifax, an Atlanta-based business information company, named C. B. (Jack) Rogers Jr., 57, president and chief operating officer. Rogers will take early retirement at the end of July from IBM, where he is senior vice president. He has spent more than 33 years at IBM and heads its U.S. marketing and service operations.

J. V. White, currently president and chief executive of Equifax, continues as CEO and becomes vice chairman of the board. Equifax is active in credit, insurance policy and insurance claim reporting, and had 1986 sales of $635 million.

Meanwhile, IBM announced that Rogers will be succeeded by Vice President David E. McKinney, who has been named head of the corporate operations staff and a member of IBM’s management committee and corporate management board. McKinney is being replaced by IBM Vice President M. Bernard Puckett as head of the corporate communications staff.
