WEEKEND SPORTS RUNDOWN

A new month brings an old--albeit watchable--assortment of televised summer sports this weekend.
In the on deck circle today at 11:15 a.m. on Channels 4, 36 and 39 is the San Francisco Giants-Cincinnati Reds ball game.
Local baseball fans can catch the Dodgers against the Atlanta Braves today at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. Both games will be carried on KTTV Channel 11 and WTBS cable.
Those who prefer a little punch in their programming can tune in the world championship boxing match between Mike Tyson and Tony Tucker. It airs tonight at 6:30 on cable’s Home Box Office.
Fight fans also can see the Pan American boxing trials on “Sports Sunday” at 11 a.m. (2)(8). The CBS telecast will feature the recent Mike McCallum-Donald Curry middleweight title fight as well.
Though it’s the first day of August, there also is action to be found on the basketball court as Magic Johnson headlines a roster of pro basketball stars taking part in a game that will benefit the United Negro College fund. Prime Ticket will cover the contest Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Finally, ABC will broadcast two auto racing events this weekend. First comes the International Race of Champions today at 3:30 p.m. (7)(3)(42). A four-hour telecast of the Michigan 500 starts Sunday at 1 p.m. (7)(3)(10)(42).
