Prison Site

The most logical place for a state urban prison is on Terminal Island near the federal prison. The property is already owned by the public sector. Much of it has not been used or poorly used for decades. The property is not near schools nor homes.

Our city and county planners should recommend location of public facilities based on a long-range plan. Using the (East Los Angeles) Crown Coach property as a prison would discourage the development of residential areas close to downtown and near affordable public transportation. Our lack of planning is forcing nearly everyone to have to spend two hours a day commuting.
