More than 100 heavily armed lawmen searched a thickly wooded area in northern Idaho after it was reported that a motorcycle gang war had left 15 dead and dozens wounded. They found nothing and jailed George William Lane of Coeur d’Alene, who made the report, on drug charges. Lane said that when the battle started outside Sally Huston’s home in an isolated area about 30 miles east of Spokane, Wash., he ducked for cover and Huston fled. She has not been seen since. Lane stuck to the story after deputies found cocaine and marijuana on him.
