A Los Angeles jury has awarded stunt woman Julie Johnson $1.1 million in damages for her wrongful discharge as stunt coordinator of Spelling/Goldberg Productions’ “Charlie’s Angels.” Johnson, now 47, lost her job on the TV show in 1980 after complaining about safety and drug-related problems on the set. During a four-week trial, Johnson’s attorney Richard Grey said the veteran stunt woman was reduced to “scraping down there at the bottom of the barrel” because other companies were reluctant to hire her. An attorney for Spelling/Goldberg, which was acquired by Coca-Cola Co. in 1982, said it will seek a new trial.
