British police arrested businessman Sir Jack Lyons at his London home for questioning about last year’s takeover of Distillers Co. by Guinness PLC, the big British brewer. Scotland Yard said that Lyons, chairman of financial consulting firm J. Lyons & Co., was arrested and questioned about possible “theft, forgery and false accounting.” Scotland Yard is investigating an alleged slush fund of about $41 million set up by Guinness during its takeover of Distillers. Lyons, 71, was an adviser to the management consulting firm Bain & Co., which advised Guinness during its successful bid for Distillers, valued at about $4.6 billion.
