COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS : Northridge Loses to No. 2 Hawaii in Volleyball

The Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team was undaunted after losing to powerhouse Hawaii, 15-11, 15-5, 12-15, 15-4, in the first round of the Cal Poly Pomona Invitational on Thursday.
“We played our best game of the year in terms of court personality and energy,” Northridge Coach Walt Ker said.
Hawaii is ranked No. 2 in Division I. CSUN (13-5), ranked third in Division II, plays fourth-ranked Portland State tonight at 6.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Pierce def. Glendale, 11-15, 15-11, 15-7, 12-15, 15-9--Shari Gartland had 25 kills and six aces to lead Pierce to a victory in a Western State Conference match at Glendale.
Moorpark def. Bakersfield, 6-15, 15-1, 15-6, 15-11--Liz Tagg had 10 kills and six blocks as Moorpark won a Western State Conference match at Moorpark.
SOCCER
Master’s 4, Biola 1--Chris Palm scored two goals to help The Master’s College to a victory in a NAIA District III men’s soccer game at Biola.
WRESTLING
Moorpark 30, San Bernardino 13--Eric Cortez pinned San Bernardino’s John Manize in 4 minutes, 44 seconds to take the 158-pound division an lead Moorpark (2-1) to a dual-meet victory at home.
