Gay March

The Times coverage of the Gay Rights March in Washington was excellent, and I especially commend the front page photograph of two men embracing (Oct. 12) as they stood at the Names Project quilts with the Capitol (as if symbolically) in the background.
For those who were not there, this brought forth vicariously some of the intense emotions and statements made by the hundreds of thousands who did attend.
Reports from those in attendance rather unanimously state that the Los Angeles representation in the March was the largest of any single city--perhaps 20,000! It was thrilling to hear thousands of people shout along the parade route, “We love you, Los Angeles! We love you, California!”
