Marjolaine Morin, the mini-skirted, shaggy-blond rock singer who is simply known as Marjo, swept the Quebec music industry’s annual awards gala Sunday night in Montreal. “I love you,” she shouted in English to the delighted crowd at the Maurice Richard arena after she was handed her fourth and final prize of the evening--Quebec’s female singer of the year. In winning, she beat a lineup of veteran Quebec troupers including such well-known names as Edith Butler, Diane Dufresne, Louise Forestier, Diane Tell and Marie-Claire Seguin. Marjo’s other awards: best album of 1987, best single of the year and best rock show of the year.
