Israeli Troops Shoot 3 Protesters

JERUSALEM — A squad of Israeli troops trapped by hundreds of Bethlehem college students during an anti-Israel protest opened fire on the demonstrators today, wounding three people, one of them critically, witnesses and military sources said.
One of the victims, a 22-year-old fourth-year student at Freres University, was in “very grave” condition at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, a hospital spokeswoman said. The student was shot in the head. Two other victims suffered minor gunshot wounds, authorities said.
