Gene Banks says Chicago Bulls’ operations chief Jerry Krause is treating him like a crook because he ruptured an Achilles tendon in a non-sanctioned all-star game over the summer.
Krause has suspended the 6-foot-8 Banks and withheld $100,000 from his guaranteed salary, meaning the former Duke standout cannot sit on the team bench, go into the Bulls’ locker room or make personal appearances on behalf of the club.
“They’re treating me like some kind of criminal or like I’m on drugs,’ said the six-year NBA veteran, who hopes to return to the Bulls’ lineup by March. “It’s almost like I was a murderer or that I killed somebody’s mother. I wonder why I’m getting this treatment.”
