N.M. Board Backs King Legal Holiday

SANTA FE, N.M. — The New Mexico Personnel Board on Friday rescinded an earlier vote and gave state employees the day off on the official Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
The board caused a furor last month when it voted to have state employees observe the slain civil rights leader’s birthday next December instead of the legal holiday, the third Monday in January.
