Heisman Trophy winner Tim Brown of Notre Dame and quarterback Don McPherson of Syracuse headed the United Press International All-American team. USC offensive tackle Dave Cadigan and UCLA linebacker Ken Norton Jr. also made the first team.
UCLA quarterback Troy Aikman and running back Gaston Green were named to the second team.
