Soviet Twins Named Ronald and Mikhail

MOSCOW — Proud parents Galina and Vyacheslav Sakharov have named their newborn twin sons Mikhail and Ronald, in honor of Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev and President Reagan.
The Communist youth daily Komsomolskaya Pravda reported Thursday that the Sakharovs had decided on the names after the boys were born on Tuesday, the day the accord eliminating most intermediate nuclear forces was signed in Washington.
“We are sure our children will live under peaceful skies,” the parents wrote in a telegram to the two leaders in Washington.
The paper said the identical twins were strong and robust.
The Moscow family is not related to Andrei D. Sakharov, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and human rights campaigner.
