Pacific Island Drive Ribbon Will Be Cut
Ceremonies at 9 a.m. today will mark the opening of a mile-long stretch of Pacific Island Drive in Laguna Niguel. The four-lane divided roadway will start at Alicia Parkway near the South County Civic Center and continue through the hills to Crown Valley Parkway near the coast.
The link will serve 1,467 dwelling units being completed by Hon Development Co., which paid for the $750,000 project, a spokesman for the firm said. The road also will provide quicker access to the Laguna Niguel civic center and business district for hilltop residents of Pacific Island Village.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony at Alicia Parkway and Pacific Island Drive will include remarks by county Supervisor Thomas F. Riley and a parade of vintage automobiles.
