A 2-year-old Casa de Oro boy died Wednesday afternoon at Grossmont Hospital from multiple injuries, apparently inflicted by a blunt instrument, said Deputy Coroner Penne Hammerstead.
Sheriff’s deputies were summoned by Heartland Ambulance paramedics, who reported that a 2-year-old boy was having trouble breathing at his home in the 9000 block of Sierra Madre. It is not known if the child’s parents were home or who called for the ambulance, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Todd Allen Perez, also known as Todd Allen Williams Jr., died at 12:38 p.m., shortly after arriving at the hospital, Hammerstead said.
No one was taken into custody. Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating.
