Keith Gatlin, who had been on academic restriction, was reinstated to the University of Maryland’s basketball team.
Gatlin, a 6-foot 5-inch senior guard, has not played for the Terrapins since the 1985-86 season, when he averaged 10.2 points a game. He is Maryland’s all-time assist leader.
The status of junior forward Rodney Walker, a transfer from Syracuse University, is still unclear pending certification by a university committee. Certification is a standard administrative procedure for transfer students.
Both players have been on academic restriction imposed by Coach Bob Wade. Tony Massenburg’s restriction was lifted last week.
