Political science professor Max Franc, facing murder charges in Los Angeles, is no longer on the Fresno State University payroll, officials said.
Franc, 57, submitted his letter of resignation last month, and campus officials said it was formally accepted and the paper work completed Thursday.
Franc is awaiting trial on charges of murdering a homosexual prostitute, Tracy Nute, 18, in Franc’s rented West Hollywood apartment last August and cutting up the body with a rented chain saw. Parts of Nute’s body were found in Los Angeles and Madera counties before Franc was arrested.
Franc has pleaded innocent to the murder charges and is scheduled to go on trial in Los Angeles Superior Court on Jan. 21.
