USC should have passed to Erik (Can’t-Holder) Affholter in the end zone for the guaranteed phantom touchdown against Michigan State in the Rose Bowl. After this year’s Rose Bowl, the rest of the country knows what UCLA football fans have known since Nov. 21--that the best Pac-10 team was not in the Rose Bowl.
The “Trojan” Times had better realize that after six consecutive bowl victories, three in the Rose Bowl against favored Big Ten opponents, that the real football power in Los Angeles resides in Westwood.
