Record crowds packed into Yosemite and Sequoia-Kings Canyon national parks in 1987. A total of 3.24 million people visited Yosemite last year compared to 2.98 million in 1986, the previous record year, the National Park Service said. Visitors to Sequoia-Kings Canyon numbered 2.22 million, breaking the 1976 record of 2.17 million.
