- Felix Fan, a La Jolla resident and seventh-grader at Bishop’s School, will gain some significant performance experience playing the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto in nine concerts with the Los Angeles Orchestra ’88.
A professional orchestra conducted by Herbert Zipper, this ensemble is affiliated with the Performing Arts School at USC and plays for schools in the Los Angeles area. Fan’s first concert will be Jan. 19 at the Belvedere School in East Los Angeles.
Besides his abilities as a cellist, the young La Jollan is a published composer, having written a cello duet at age 8. He has performed locally with the Jewish Community Center’s “Musicians in the Making” program.
