Jerry Hartless, a rookie San Diego police officer shot in the forehead Friday, continued to lie in critical condition on hospital life support systems. Law enforcement officials said they expect to bring attempted murder charges today against Stacy Don Butler, 24, ofsoutheast San Diego. Butler was held in the County Jail on suspicion of a parole violation. He was arrested just minutes after the Friday night shooting in the back bedroom of what police described as a known drug house about three blocks from the shooting scene.
